Types of EV charging points

Before having an EV charger fitted its worth considering what you need it for? Is it for;

  • a domestic property – where the user will not be doing long distances?
  • a commercial property for fleet vehicles used locally that need to be charged quickly?

Then you should familiarise yourself with the types of charging points, as this can help to determine which charger to install based on how often you use your car. For example, a rapid or SuperCharger is ideal for those who travel to and from home throughout the day as they can charge a vehicle up to 80% in just 20 minutes. However, the two most popular charging points for homeowners are fast and slow chargers, as these are the best solutions to conserve energy. In contrast to a rapid charger, a slow charger can take anywhere between 6 and 12 hours to charge, making it more suited for overnight charging. If you are unsure which charger is best for your home and use, our team can help during your home survey.
