Who should you pick for work like this?

Having the electrical wiring in a property replaced is not a small job and care needs to be taken. It doesn’t matter whether it is a section of a property or the whole installation you as the customer needs to make sure of a number of things before you appointment a contractor, namely;

  • Registration with a competent persons scheme – ours is with the NICEIC – Registered address – Unit 17 Dorcan Business Village, Murdock Road, Swindon, SN3 5HY – Reg No 610959
    • Use this link to the NICEIC to check any contractor
  • Insurance for public liability – we hold £10 million
  • Insurance for professional indemnity – we hold £300k
  • Insurance for Employers liability – we hold £10 million

The above list is considered the minimum you should be looking for. See below for why you should pick TECC.

Why you should pick TECC

As a small business we pride ourselves on the work we do, over almost 20 years of trade from a self employed electrician out on their own to now employing a full time team of just over 20 staff – TECC is the company to use. A few more key reasons why you should pick us;

  • Fantastic 2 year labour warranty on full property rewires
  • Hundreds of fantastic reviews on Google, Checkatrade and Facebook showing our customers are happy with the work we do
  • Qualified staff – all of our staff are highly qualified through full apprenticeships – over 100 years of combined experience
  • Proper tools and equipment – we use the latest wall chasing equipment from Hilti which allows us to bury cables into the building fabric

We can happily provide references and where possible book an appointment on a live site to show you our working practices.

Does my property need to be rewired?

This is a question we get asked so much. There are a number of considerations to take into account when considering a job like a full property rewire;

  • You have had a report and it advises a rewire is necessary
  • You are having major other works done on the property and its worth renewing the fixed electrical installation at the same time
  • Old fuse board with either rewireable fuse wire or cartridge fuses
  • Lots of fuses blowing or tripping on a regular basis
  • Scorch marks on sockets
  • Missing earth on circuits around the property
  • Cables surface mounted on skirting boards or anyway else

These are a few considerations to take into account when thinking about fully rewiring a property. Get in touch to find out more.

What to think about before we visit

Before anyone visits your property to go over the work you should think about;

  • Rough locations of sockets in each room
  • Light switch locations – do you want lights switch from more than 1 location for rooms with more than 1 entrance or exit
  • Lighting types and location – do you want pendants in the centre of bedrooms or downlights in the living room?
  • Outside power – lights for security or power for the garden space
  • Kitchen – electric oven, extractor, electric hob, power on the kitchen island?
  • Bathroom – electric shower, extractor, electric underfloor heating?
  • Accessory style – what do you want the socket, lights and switches to look like? Standard white, brushed steel and chrome are a few examples
  • Smart home options – to be able to control power and lighting by voice command or when not in the property
  • Future proofing – putting in options like power supplies to a potential future electric vehicle charging point

These are a few considerations to take into account when thinking about fully rewiring a property. Get in touch to find out more.

Having through about this and even putting together a room by room list will allow us to provide you with a quotation that matches your specification.
