ELECTRICAL INSTALLATION CONDITION REPORTS (EICR)

Professional EICR inspections for homes, landlords and businesses across Swindon and the surrounding areas. Identify potential issues, ensure compliance and keep your property safe.

An Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR) is a detailed inspection of your property’s electrical installation. It identifies faults, deterioration, wear and tear, and any potential electrical safety risks.

The EICR assesses whether your electrical system is safe for continued use and highlights any remedial work required to bring the installation up to the required standard.

Electrical installations naturally deteriorate over time. Without regular inspections, hidden faults can develop into serious safety risks, including electric shock, electrical fires, and equipment damage.

An EICR helps you:

Stay legally compliant, particularly if you’re a landlord

Identify issues before they become costly repairs

Protect tenants, employees, customers, and property

Gain clear insight into the condition and safety of your electrical installation

Our qualified electricians carry out a comprehensive inspection and testing process, including:

Visual inspection of the electrical installation

Safety classification of observations (C1, C2, and C3)

Testing of electrical circuits and components

Identification of faults, defects, or deterioration

A detailed EICR report with clear recommendations

We keep the process straightforward, providing clear explanations and practical advice to help you understand the condition of your electrical installation.

Rental properties: Every 5 years (a legal requirement in most cases)
Domestic homes: Every 10 years or when there is a change of occupancy
Commercial properties: Typically every 5 years, depending on the type and use of the premises

Not sure what’s required for your property? Our team is happy to advise.

We agree a suitable time to safely isolate the electrical installation before carrying out the inspection. Our engineer will then examine the incoming mains supply, meter connections, and consumer unit, including an internal inspection to assess its condition and safety.

We assess the condition of the electrical wiring and carry out a series of tests on circuits to verify continuity, insulation resistance, polarity, and protective measures. This includes RCD testing where required to ensure the installation remains safe and compliant.

We assess the condition of switches, sockets, lighting, and associated electrical components, identifying any damage, deterioration, outdated fittings, or potential safety concerns.

You’ll receive a detailed EICR with findings and recommendations. If any issues are identified, we’ll provide a quotation and can carry out any necessary remedial work, issuing certification once complete.
