Gathering Information for Electrical Jobs

Helping us provide you with an accurate electrical quote

At TECC Ltd., we’re proud to have a highly experienced team of electricians.

Our electricians spend much of their working day out and about, carrying out installations, repairs, inspections and testing for our customers. This means that when you first contact us about an electrical job, you’ll usually speak to one of our experienced administrators.

And they may have a few questions for you!

Why Do We Ask So Many Questions?

Our administration team deals with electrical enquiries every day and has a good understanding of the services we provide.

Part of their role is to gather as much useful information as possible about the work you need before passing the details to our electricians.

The more information we have, the better we can understand what’s likely to be involved – and the more accurately we can quote for the work.

At TECC Ltd., we believe in being transparent with our pricing. We’d much rather ask a few extra questions at the beginning than provide a quote based on incomplete information.

What Information Should You Give Us?

This will depend on the type of electrical work you need, but useful information can include:

  • The type of property
  • A description of the work you’d like carried out
  • The number of sockets, lights or other electrical items involved
  • The location of the work within the property
  • Details of any existing faults or problems
  • The age of the electrical installation, if known
  • Information about your consumer unit
  • Any previous electrical reports or certificates that may be relevant
  • Details of access to the area

Don’t worry if you don’t know all the technical details. Tell us what you can and our team will ask questions to help gather the information we need.

A Picture Can Tell Us a Lot

We may also ask you to send us some photographs.

A clear photograph of a consumer unit, socket, light fitting or another part of the existing electrical installation can give our electricians valuable information.

It can sometimes help us identify what’s likely to be required without making an additional visit to the property.

Of course, there will be jobs where photographs and a telephone conversation aren’t enough. In those circumstances, we may recommend a site visit so that one of our electricians can assess the work properly before we provide a quotation.

What If Our Administrator Can’t Answer Your Question?

Some electrical enquiries are more technical than others.

If you ask something our administration team can’t confidently answer, they won’t guess.

They’ll speak to one of our electricians, get the appropriate technical information and come back to you.

So please bear with us if we can’t always give you an immediate answer over the telephone. Taking a little extra time to check with the right person helps ensure that the information we give you is accurate.

Better Information Means a Better Quote

Ultimately, all those questions have a purpose.

By understanding as much as possible about your electrical job from the beginning, we can determine what’s required, allocate the appropriate amount of time and provide a quotation based on the work we’re actually expecting to carry out.

So, when you contact TECC Ltd. for an electrical quote, the more information you can give us, the better.

And if you’re not sure what information we need, don’t worry – our administration team will help you through it.

If you have an electrical job you’d like us to quote for, get in touch with TECC Ltd. and our friendly team will be happy to help.
